The Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16S is a ControlLogix DC (18…32V) sinking safety input module for the 1756 chassis. It is a safety module with 16 sinking safety inputs in one group and eight test outputs, using 18…32V DC SELV/PELV field power. Rockwell rates it for use up to Cat. 4 / PLe to EN ISO 13849-1 and SIL 3 to IEC 61508, with a safety reaction time of 6 ms at an RPI of 2 ms. It draws 280 mA at 5.1V DC from the backplane. Field wiring goes through a 1756-TBCHS or 1756-TBS6HS (safety RTB) removable terminal block, which is ordered separately. ControlLogix I/O modules can sit in any slot of a local ControlLogix chassis or in a remote chassis linked over EtherNet/IP or ControlNet, and their input data and output status can be shared by more than one controller.
