The ifm IS5001 (IS-3002-BPKG) is an inductive proximity sensor in a rectangular housing measuring 27.8 x 10.2 x 16 mm, for flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 2 mm. The real sensing range is 2 mm ± 10% and the operating distance on steel is 0…1.6 mm. The PNP switching output is normally open, rated at 100 mA and up to 1000 Hz on 10…30 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.7 for stainless steel, 0.5 for brass, 0.4 for aluminum and 0.3 for copper. The sensor has an orange PPS housing, connects through a 2 m PUR, Ø 2.9 mm cable with 3 x 0.14 mm² conductors and is rated IP65, IP66, IP67 and IP68 for -40…85 °C ambient. ifm lists it for use where space is restricted and it has UL approval under file E174191.
