The ifm IN5230 (IN-3002-BPKG/AS-610-T) is an inductive proximity sensor in a rectangular housing measuring 40 x 12 x 26 mm, for flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 2 mm. The real sensing range is 2 mm ± 10% and the operating distance on steel is 0…1.6 mm. The PNP switching output is normally open, rated at 250 mA and up to 1400 Hz on 10…36 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.7 for stainless steel, 0.4 for brass, 0.3 for aluminum and 0.2 for copper. The sensor has a PBT housing, connects through an M8 connector (A-coded, 3 contacts) and is rated IP67 for -20…80 °C ambient. It has UL approval under file E174191.
