The ifm IM002A (IME2040-FBOA/3D) is an inductive proximity sensor in a rectangular housing measuring 40 x 40 x 105 mm, for non-flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 40 mm. The real sensing range is 40 mm ± 10% and the operating distance on steel is 0…32.4 mm. It is a two-wire normally open or normally closed (selectable) sensor for 20…250 V AC/DC, with an AC load current of 150 mA and a switching frequency of 10 Hz on AC, or 100 mA and 10 Hz on DC. ifm specifies a fast-acting miniature fuse of 2 A or less in the supply, placed outside the hazardous area. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.7 for stainless steel, 0.4 for brass, 0.3 for aluminum and 0.2 for copper. The sensor has a black PC housing with a black PC sensing face, connects through terminals for conductors 0.34…2.5 mm² in a terminal chamber for cable Ø 5…9 mm and is rated IP65 and IP67 for -20…60 °C ambient. ifm lists it for hazardous areas with ATEX marking II 3D Ex tc IIIC T95°C Dc.
