The ifm IG5842 (IGA4008-CPKG/US-104) is an inductive proximity sensor in an M18 x 1 threaded housing 80 mm long, for non-flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 8 mm. The real sensing range is 8 mm ± 10% and the operating distance on steel is 0…6.48 mm. It has complementary PNP switching outputs, one normally open and one normally closed, rated at 200 mA and up to 300 Hz on 10…30 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.7 for stainless steel, 0.5 for brass, 0.4 for aluminum and 0.3 for copper. The sensor has a white-bronze-coated brass housing with an orange PBT sensing face, connects through an M12 connector (A-coded, 4 contacts) and is rated IP65 for -25…80 °C ambient. Two lock nuts are included.
