The ifm IER206 (IEB2002BARKG/AM/SC/UP/0,3M/US/) is an inductive full-metal proximity sensor in an M8 x 1 threaded housing 45 mm long, for flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 2 mm, which ifm classes as an increased sensing range. The operating distance on steel is 0…1.6 mm. The PNP/NPN switching output is normally open, rated at 100 mA and up to 150 Hz on 10…36 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.6 for stainless steel, 0.4 for brass, 0.3 for aluminum and 0.2 for copper. The sensor has a weld-coated stainless steel (1.4404 / 316L) housing with a weld-coated stainless steel (1.4404 / 316L) sensing face, connects through an M12 connector (A-coded, 2 gold-plated contacts) and is rated IP67 for -25…70 °C ambient. ifm lists it for welding applications and it has UL approval under file E174191.
