The ifm IIT228 (IIK3010-BPKG/AM/US-104) is an inductive full-metal proximity sensor in an M30 x 1.5 threaded housing 65 mm long, for flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 10 mm. The operating distance on steel is 0…8.1 mm. The PNP switching output is normally open, rated at 100 mA and up to 50 Hz on 10…30 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.6 for stainless steel, 0.8 for brass, 0.6 for aluminum and 0.2 for copper. The sensor has a stainless steel (1.4404 / 316L) housing with a stainless steel (1.4404 / 316L) sensing face, connects through an M12 connector (A-coded, 3 gold-plated contacts) and is rated IP68 and IP69K for 0…100 °C ambient. The sensing face withstands 100 bar, ifm lists it for hygienic areas with regular cleaning and it has UL approval under file E174191. Two lock nuts are included.
