The ifm IIS228 (IIK3015BANKG/US-104) is an inductive proximity sensor in an M30 x 1.5 threaded housing 60 mm long, for flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 15 mm, which ifm classes as an increased sensing range. The real sensing range is 15 mm ± 10% and the operating distance on steel is 0…12.15 mm. The NPN switching output is normally open, rated at 100 mA and up to 100 Hz on 10…30 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.7 for stainless steel, 0.5 for brass, 0.4 for aluminum and 0.3 for copper. The sensor has a white-bronze-coated brass housing with an orange PBT sensing face, connects through an M12 connector (A-coded, 3 gold-plated contacts) and is rated IP65, IP66, IP67, IP68 and IP69K for -40…85 °C ambient. It has UL approval under file E174191. Two lock nuts are included.
