The ifm IGS248 (IGB3008BBPKG/2M/PUR) is an inductive proximity sensor in an M18 x 1 threaded housing 40 mm long, for flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 8 mm, which ifm classes as an increased sensing range. The real sensing range is 8 mm ± 10% and the operating distance on steel is 0…6.48 mm. The PNP switching output is normally open, rated at 100 mA and up to 400 Hz on 10…30 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.7 for stainless steel, 0.5 for brass, 0.4 for aluminum and 0.3 for copper. The sensor has a white-bronze-coated brass housing with an orange PBT sensing face, connects through a 2 m PUR, Ø 4 mm cable with 3 x 0.34 mm² conductors (burning behaviour to ECE R118 rev. 2) and is rated IP65, IP66, IP67, IP68 and IP69K for -40…85 °C ambient. It has UL approval under file E174191. Two lock nuts are included.
