The ifm IG5398 (IGA3008-BPKG) is an inductive proximity sensor in an M18 x 1 threaded housing 80 mm long, for non-flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 8 mm. The real sensing range is 8 mm ± 10% and the operating distance on steel is 0…6.5 mm. The PNP switching output is normally open, rated at 250 mA and up to 300 Hz on 10…36 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.7 for stainless steel, 0.4 for brass, 0.3 for aluminum and 0.2 for copper. The sensor has a white-bronze-coated brass housing with an orange PBT sensing face, connects through a 2 m PVC cable with 3 x 0.5 mm² conductors and is rated IP67 for -25…80 °C ambient. Two lock nuts are included.
