The ifm IFC234 (IFK2004BFRKG/2LED/US-104) is an inductive proximity sensor in an M12 x 1 threaded housing 60 mm long, for flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 4 mm, which ifm classes as an increased sensing range. The operating distance on steel is 0…3.25 mm. The PNP/NPN switching output is selectable as normally open or normally closed, rated at 100 mA and up to 700 Hz on 10…30 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.7 for stainless steel, 0.5 for brass, 0.5 for aluminum and 0.4 for copper. The sensor has a white-bronze-coated brass housing with a white LCP sensing face, connects through an M12 connector (A-coded, 2 gold-plated contacts) and is rated IP68 for -25…70 °C ambient. ifm lists it for use with oils and coolants.
