The ifm IF5915 (IFK3004BBPKG/US-104) is an inductive proximity sensor in an M12 x 1 threaded housing 60 mm long, for flush mounting. Its rated sensing range is 4 mm, which ifm classes as an increased sensing range. The real sensing range is 4 mm ± 10% and the operating distance on steel is 0…3.24 mm. The PNP switching output is normally open, rated at 200 mA and up to 700 Hz on 10…30 V DC, with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. On other metals the distance is reduced by ifm's correction factors: 0.7 for stainless steel, 0.5 for brass, 0.4 for aluminum and 0.3 for copper. The sensor has a white-bronze-coated brass housing with a white LCP sensing face, connects through an M12 connector (A-coded, 3 gold-plated contacts) and is rated IP67 for -25…70 °C ambient. Two lock nuts are included.
